A brilliant location with wonderful cottages. We had a lovely stay here over New Year as a big group. Our hosts were really accommodating and each cottage was thoughtfully kitted out. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Booked a long weekend away with our 3 month old, we chose Cliff house as you get a time slot for the swimming pool we could take the baby in for the first time without the worry of what other people are doing around us and it was brilliant!! The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed to make our own food but also it's in a gorgeous part of the county with nice pubs and farm shops. Would recommend for a much needed relaxing stay.

Our host did everything possible to ensure we had a pleasant stay and, as one of the other cottages was not occupied on that occasion, was able to accommodate our request for an additional car space when we had visitors who needed to be close to the cottage. There is a swimming pool, which we didn't use ourselves, but noted that there is also a coach available at certain times, so this would be great for novice swimmers and children.
Rooms: Sofa and pillows were extremely comfortable - extremely important. The only reason for 4 stars and not five, was the road
noise, but it didn't spoil our stay.

The accommodation was clean and good for six adults and two small dogs. We walked to The Grapes for dinner. Ideal as it was literally across the road. The heating wouldn’t work but Jacqueline and Alistair tried very hard to sort it out. …

Beautiful grounds and lovely barn conversions. Excellent indoor pool and friendly knowledgeable hosts. We were made very welcome and would certainly stay there again.
Nearby activities: Heriot museum, Eden camp. Stained glass centre, Yorkshire air museum, York outlet village, Bangers and Cash shop.

Wonderful stay at Cliff House holiday cottages. The cottages themselves are lovely and very well equipped. Our cottage was also extremely family friendly with everything you could need with children (high chairs, stair gates and even children cutlery and plates). The pool is lovely as is the games room. The grounds are beautiful, having the play area made the whole stay very enjoyable. The cottages are in such a lovely location, easily accessible and near to so many days out. Would recommend to anyone.

Stayed 1 week in the coach house, family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a small dog.
Great location as a base for accessing the main North Yorks places as it's located on the main A170 road but that means you have tractors, lorries, cars, everything travelling past at all hours, especially from 7am when the commuters hit the road. Couldn't have the bedroom windows open because of this.
The donkeys and sheep next door are lovely to look at over the fence and the donkeys morning wake up song is something we hadn't expected but was unique!
The cottage was clean with a stocked up utensil kitchen but was tired in the main decoration except the main bathroom which was very small but nice quality. The carpets and lounge rug were worn and stained but it was homely and had everything we needed. The non fan oven took a bit of time to cook stuff but it did the job too. The large fridge freezer was a godsend and great to have. The beds were all uncomfortable sadly, we all had bad backs the whole week, some investment in softer beds and a king or superking in the main bedroom would really help. Being out in the countryside we hadn't realised how many flies there are, they were everywhere in the house and it wasn't pleasant when my son had 11 in his room before bed!
The cottage outside secure courtyard garden was lovely and the reason we booked this cottage, for our dog, it was great but could have been much better if we had a table to eat at as it's a suntrap or just to place our coffee cup when sitting out, plus a bit of grass, paving or astro would be softer underfoot than just stones but it was fine nonetheless.
The pool was ideal, nice temperature and got good use out of it in our alloted times plus the games room was good too for a game of pool after a long day out.
We only met one host, the lady owner, who looked to pretty much run the operations and saw the husband a couple of times but he made no attempt to interact with guests at all (or maybe just us?). The lady host was really friendly, helpful and left us a gorgeous cake and goodies in the cottage on arrival, thankyou!
We were a bit anxious about our arrival and stay actually as the welcome pack and communications were a bit scary, written very formally and with strict rules in black bold underlined! Arriving at 5 minutes before the specified minimum arrival time we were worried and a comment was made by the host but it was fine.
Can highly recommend the Grapes pub over the road, absolute gem of a place welcoming dogs inside and serves great food. Hosts were lovely and really had a relaxed atmosphere, we liked it there a lot and went a few times, Sunday lunch was super!

We loved our weeks holiday at Cliff House Holiday Cottages. Jacqueline and Alastair were the best hosts ever. The pool was fantastic and loved the fact it’s allocate to each cottage twice daily so you get full private use it. The cottage had absolutely every we needed.
It was spotlessly clean and beds so comfy.
A beautiful location and so central for Scarborough, Whitly Bay, Goathland, Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land and Thornton le Dale. We will definitely be back
Nearby activities: We loved staying at Cliff House Cottages as so central for Scarborough, Whitely Bay, Goathland, Thornton le Dale, Dalby Forest and Flamingo Land. Lots of super walks around the area. Lots of places dog friendly too.
Walkability: Ideal walks on our door step
Food & drinks: We ate out at the Coachman Inn along the road from the cottage the food was delicious. Dog friendly and staff were amazing

We stayed here on the 9th June for a weekend break with family, renting out 2 of the cottages. The cottages are very clean and well designed and the owners think of everything, all the utensils and cutlery you could think off, also a coffee pod machine with pods supplied. Freshly baked cookies waiting when you walk in is a nice touch. Brilliant games room and swimming pool and plenty of space in the gardens for the kids to wander round
Nearby activities: Scarborough and flamingoland on the doorstep to name just a couple
Food & drinks: Eat the local pub the grapes, very nice

We stayed for a long weekend recently with our 2 little ones and I cannot recommend this place enough. From the moment we arrived we felt very relaxed, from the little personal touches in the rooms with homemade cookies and bread, to the beautiful gardens this place is a little treasure. For families with small children this place is ideal, travel cots, highchairs, children's plates etc in each room, stairgates in each cottage. The on site pool was perfect and actually very warm when you're used to being in a baby pool at swimming pools. The games rooms was great, but the best part of all were the gardens. They are absolutely stunning and super safe for kids. We will 100% be back and we have already told our friends to visit too. 20 mins from the beach if you fancy a trip, but enough to do on site for a relaxing weekend away. Thank you for such a lovely trip!
